teaching aims & objectives

The aim of the school is to provide education within a structured, happy and caring environment that allows the children to grow in confidence and independence, to feel safe and secure and to achieve their maximum potential.

The Rainbow School therefore aims:

  • To offer early intensive intervention for pre-school and primary age children.
  • To offer an approach to learning based on Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) complemented by other suitable communications techniques including PECS (Picture Exchange and Communications System) and Makaton sign language.
  • To provide a curriculum which meets each child's individual education plan
  • To offer access to the national curriculum where appropriate
  • To enable children, where possible to integrate into mainstream schools and where not, to continue to support their ongoing needs.
  • To provide parent education and build partnerships between parents and staff
  • To provide a high level of training for the teaching staff.
